⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tom has a very firm grasp of comedic tools that I never knew existed until I started working with him (taken his intermediate in-person workshop multiple times). Not only will he help you elevate and punch-up your jokes and get you to see them from a point of view that you never considered, but he will also be there to serve as a guide and a coach to help you navigate the journey of stand-up comedy. I’m truly grateful that I found him. He’s the real deal!

what’s included

3 Writing sessions 1-on-1

✍️

These weekly one-hour Zoom sessions with Tom are ideal for polishing existing material, brainstorming new bits, reviewing past performances, or tackling the mental hurdles of stand-up. You’ll get tailored guidance and direct feedback to sharpen your instincts and elevate your writing. No other workshop in NYC offers this level of individual attention—this is where the real work gets done! Tom credits this combination of weekly one-on-one mentoring sessions and structured group “workout rooms” with helping him make the leap to becoming a professional comedian.

3 GROUP WORKSHOPS

🎤

These in-person weekly “workout rooms” are curated with working and aspiring comedians we’ve personally seen do well on stage—no total beginners. They’re more structured and productive than open mics—each comic gets 8 minutes of stage time plus personalized feedback from Tom, along with insights from the group—making every session dynamic, supportive, and growth-focused. Workshops take place at Pearl Studios, conveniently located near Penn Station in the heart of Manhattan.

It’s the perfect chance to test material and strengthen your stage presence in front of a real audience—without the pressure of club bookers. This low-stakes, high-value show is often sold out, giving you a great opportunity to gather honest “data points” on your set. Past audiences consistently rave about the quality and vibe of the show.

“Working with Tom Eschelman has been a complete game changer. Tom is a comic's comic..a teacher's teacher...in the years since I have been in the business, I have never come across someone as dedicated to his craft and to helping others as Tom. I went from a meandering comic storyteller to having an authentic comedic set in a matter of weeks (In-person Workshop). I am now more confident when I perform. Tom wants you to be better than good...he wants you to soar with your comedic voice and his well-placed guidance.”

“Before this workshop, I always created my stand-up material by trying to ‘be funny’ or trying to be clever and witty. Through Tom’s workshop I learned that instead of forcing punchlines, I can actually craft comedy that reflects my real emotions and raw truths of my experiences. I am now getting much bigger and more consistent laughs—I highly recommend Tom’s workshop to anyone looking to grow in stand-up comedy!”
